At F2 Motorcycles we encourage our customers
to get to know their bikes. We offer help and advice regarding
home servicing so that over time a new customer can learn to
service their own bike with confidence.
The items on this page are all products we use in our own workshop.

ACF 50 Anti Corrosion Fluid.
We first found this product a while ago but have been
running our own tests to check it really does do what
it claims. We have been using it on our own bikes with
remarkable results and also took a scratched piece of
chrome tube and some alloy parts. Then left them half
submerged in salt water for 10 days. You can see the results
here. The rusty and corroded end was not treated and the
shiny end was sprayed with ACF50 then the excess wiped
off. In the second test seen in the box below the tube
we took four pieces of normal untreated steel wool and
stapled them to a piece of wood. The wood with the wool
attached was left outside in normal October UK weather
for 30 days. The sample on the far left is untreated,
the two in the middle are treated with other products
which claim to reduce rust and the one on the right is
ACF50. Scroll over picture for more details.
Comes in a 369 gram spray can, which goes a long way.

ACF50 - 1 Litre bulk.
If you have large areas to cover, or ride your bike every
day in the winter, it is worth getting ACF 50 by the litre.
It comes with a small pump spray, but it can also be applied
with a paint spray, or plant mister if warmed first.

Corrosion Block Grease.
Made by the same people as ACF50 above. This is a blue
multi purpose grease with the same additives that make
ACF50 spray so good. Use it on threads, splines, wheel
bearings, and anywhere you would normally use a standard
grease. It resists water wash out and the excellent
extreme pressure properties out perform lithium grease.
Sold in 454 gram screw lid tub. This product can not

| Copaslip. This is the mechanics
favourite anti seize compound. It has been copied by many
companies, but the molyslip version is still the best. Very
simply it has more copper than the rest and is not bulked
out with cheaper additives such as graphite. Apply to all
exhaust joints, flanges and spark plug threads. Maximum
operating temperature is 1100 degrees Celsius. The grease
content burns off after some time leaving a layer of copper
in the joint making it easy to get the exhaust system apart
in the future. |

| ZX1 oil treatment. We use
this in our workshop when bikes are fully run in. Treatment
level is 5% of oil capacity. It can be used in the engine,
gearbox and final drive. We also use it in the fuel tank
as an upper cylinder lubricant. It really does work. For
Urals we use 120 ml in the engine, 50 ml in the gearbox,
10 ml in the final drive. This leaves 20 ml to treat two
tanks of fuel. |

| Activ-8 Friction Reducer.
There are a lot of friction reducers that make all sorts
of claims, this one actually works. You need to treat the
engine oil at between 25ml and 50ml per litre of oil. We
test the claims made for all the products we sell. All the
products on this page have been tested and found to work
by F2 motorcycles Ltd |

| Engine flush additive.
Very good idea after major engine work or when changing
to fully synthetic oil. Add to the oil in the engine,
let the engine tick over for 10 to 15 minutes then drain.
Removes harmful deposits, cleans sludge contamination
and neutralises corrosive acids. Comes in 250 ml, which
treats most engines up to 2 litres. |

| Millers Stop Leak. This is
added to existing oil in your engine, gearbox or final drive.
It softens most oil seals making old hard brittle seals
flexible again. we always feel this is a bit of a bodge
as if a seal needs replacing it should be replaced. But
certain seals require a large amount of labour to replace.
In these cases it is worth trying stop leak as we have found
in about 75% of cases it will stop the leak allowing the
bike to continue to be ridden until there is time to replace
the seal. If you have dried out seal it is worth a try. |

| K&N Filter Spray. The
correct spray for treating K&N and other similar air
filters. After washing and drying the air filter spray
very sparingly. |

12 Volt Smart Charger.
Simply plug it in and the smart charger will detect the
current state of the battery, charge it and then automatically
switch to maintenance mode. We do not leave any charger
permanently plugged in all winter whatever the instructions
say. However all smart chargers can be left switched on
for a day or so without damaging the battery. Comes with
both permanent fused ring lead and temporary croc clip
lead. Extra Leads. Spare fused lead with
ring connectors if you have several bikes. |

Oximiser 900 Smart Charger. This
is the one we use in the workshop, sophisticated battery
management and a very useful display showing the condition
and voltage of the battery. We have recovered seemingly
dead batteries with the Oximiser 900. Extremely reliable,
the workshop unit has charged, maintained and recovered
hundreds of batteries. Comes with both permanent fused
ring lead and temporary croc clip lead.

Twinmax Electronic carb balancer.
Suitable for very accurate balancing of twin carb engines
with vacuum take off points. Works very well on the latest
Urals using Keihin carbs. Comes with threaded adaptors to
fit a number of modern (and not so modern) twins. Instructions
included.
These work a lot better than the traditional mercury or
rod gauges. One of these is included in our Ural service
kit. They really do take the guess work out of carburetor
balancing. |

| Muc-off Motorcycle Cleaner.
Recognised as one of the best all over bike cleaners you
can buy. Strong enough to clean the engine area but gentle
enough to use on the whole motorcycle. For best results
always follow the instructions. Not only does Muc-off
clean the bike very well but it also leaves a fine anti
corrosion layer to help protect your bike between washes.

| Tyre Inflator. A great little
device to have in your tool kit. This attaches to your tyre
and will completely inflate it from flat with no need for
a pump. The small air bottles can be purchased separately
but we supply you with two bottles right from the start
so you will have a spare. There are some really nasty cheap
plastic products that claim to do the same job, but ours
are all metal with o-ring seals and a on/off valve. When
you have just fixed a puncture and you are miles from home
you want a product that works. |

| Hermetite Red. This is
a really useful product to have in any workshop. There
and many other gasket sealers on the market, but we have
always found Hermetite red to have the most uses. Obviously
it can be used on gaskets including head gaskets, but
we also smear a little on the threads of sump plugs and
other threads that need to come apart often. Hermetite
red never fully hardens. The threaded plug will be easy
to remove, but it will not leak. We also use it in places
where a bolt may keep vibrating loose but we don't want
something as strong as thread locker because we want to
be able to quickly and easily remove it at the next service. |

| Cable Oiler. This is the
product we use in the work shop, very easy and quick, clamps
round cable and allows pressure oiling using WD40 or similar.
Cleaning and lubricating cables is always going to be a
messy job. When you use this there is some leakage of WD40
around the cable, but this is still the best way to service
cables. Because the tool allows pressure oiling the dirt
is forced out at the same time as the lubricant is forced
in. |

| Spring Puller. Great for
getting the rear brake lever return spring back on a Ural
after taking the gearbox off. Obviously this has loads
of other uses where springs are involved. This will save
all those skinned knuckles and bruised hands that replacing
pre tensioned springs using screw drivers and pliers often
cause. |

| Ural Sidecar Tool kit. You
don't have to own a Ural to want a decent size tool kit
with you. These are a bit bulky for a solo bike as they
are designed to go in a sidecar boot. They make great car
tool rolls as well. The kit unrolls to provide a large clean
area to work on with an additional flap (which is not shown)
so your not trying to work in the gravel by the road. Scroll
