into a Christmas sleigh and we visit schools etc to give sleigh
rides to children. We have visited a pack of brownies, a young
farmers club ,lots of fetes & events explaining the history

Pets as Therapy. Within the
Karluk Pack there are two Huskies, Orga & Cub who are now
both registered Pets as Therapy dogs, they visit nursing homes
, schools, hospitals etc where the residents/patients are able
to hug, kiss & just generally make lots of fuss of the dogs,
the dogs in return give them so much happiness, some of the
people Karluk visit used to have their own dogs and miss their
pet very much, the visits cheer them up so much, this kind of
work with the dogs is probably the most rewarding work that
Karluk do.

Siberian Huskies. The Siberian
Husky was the winter sled dog of the Chukchi people of Siberia.
They were expected to travel fairly quickly for long distances
pulling a moderate load in low temperatures, while not eating
their masters out of house and home. They were welcome in the
dwellings as playmates for the children and as hot water bottles
at night. During the summer they ran loose, hunting and fending
for themselves. This lifestyle, which continued unchanged for
centuries, produced a breed of dog which retained the pack living
and hunting attributes of the wolf, while being unaggressive
and affectionate towards people.

Husky Temperament. Siberian
huskies are an amazing breed of dog and truly stunning in appearance, they
are however not one of the easiest breeds to look after and
train. They need lots of exercise which must be done on the
lead or in harness, they crave company and can become destructive
when left alone, they love to howl, they shed their coat twice
a year and it is a serious amount of shedding. They need lots
of mental stimulation they get bored very easily. They are keen
& efficient hunters of any animal non canine . It is said
that have a heart that never hardens, a temper that never tires
& a touch that never hurts.

F2 Motorcycles Ltd and Karluk
A chance meeting between Lizi Angel and one of the Karluk team
resulted in a long chat about dogs and the work Karluk were
doing. It was also mentioned that they needed a sponsor to help
keep this work going. If you have ever been to the shop and
talked to us you will know we are a bit soft when it comes to
dogs. Karluk do a wonderful job of promoting the correct care
of the Siberian Husky and the Pets as Therapy program they participate
in helps hundreds of people every year. We are now their sponsors.
